Elevate is dedicated to providing a full range of high-performance roofing solutions—and the UltraPly TPO membrane is a standout example. But what exactly is TPO? It stands for Thermoplastic Polyolefin, a type of roofing membrane that has rapidly gained popularity in the commercial roofing industry—and for good reason.
UltraPly TPO is manufactured by blending ethylene-propylene rubber into a polypropylene base, reinforced with a polyester fabric for added strength. This construction results in a membrane that offers the flexibility of rubber along with the benefits of heat-weldable seams, all in a durable, easy-to-install sheet with excellent lay-flat properties.
Its growing success across global low-slope roofing projects since the early 1990s is a testament to its reliable performance and unique blend of features.
UltraPly TPO offers excellent energy efficiency thanks to its light-colored, reflective surface that helps minimize heat absorption—reducing cooling demands in warmer climates. The membrane is formulated without chlorine, halogens, or plasticizers, and its seams are fused using hot air rather than adhesives, making it a more eco-conscious choice. It’s also fully recyclable.
Designed for long-term performance, UltraPly TPO shows exceptional resistance to UV exposure, ozone degradation, rooftop chemicals, and fungal growth—ensuring lasting protection in a variety of environments.
UltraPly TPO is lightweight and available in wide rolls—up to 3.05 meters—helping installers cover large areas quickly and cost-effectively. It’s suitable for both new constructions and refurbishment projects, with multiple installation methods available.
The membrane’s seams are heat-welded, creating a strong, uniform bond between layers. This results in consistently high seam strength and reliability. Its wide welding window also allows for flexible installation across different seasons.
Thanks to its root resistance (proven by EN 13948 testing), UltraPly TPO is well-suited for green roof systems using low-maintenance sedum vegetation. It also pairs well with solar panel installations due to its reflective surface, durability under high temperatures, and excellent resistance to wear and tear.
Whether you’re constructing a new roof or upgrading an existing one, selecting the right roofing system depends on your project’s specific needs. Are you planning for a green roof, solar integration, water retention (blue roof), or simply a standard accessible or non-accessible surface? Elevate UltraPly TPO systems offer versatile installation methods to suit a wide range of applications.
In this method, the TPO membrane is laid loosely over the roof deck and secured using fasteners and plates placed along the seams. The adjacent sheets are then heat-welded to ensure a strong, continuous bond.
Here, the membrane is bonded directly to a compatible substrate using Elevate Bonding Adhesive, creating a smooth, uniform surface with excellent wind uplift resistance.
The membrane is installed loosely and kept in place with approved ballast materials, such as gravel or pavers. This method is often used for larger roofs where mechanical or adhesive attachment may be impractical.
